The International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) and its members aim to promote inclusive development. Inclusive development means respecting the full human rights of every person, acknowledging diversity, eradicating poverty and ensuring that all people are fully included and can actively participate in development processes and activities regardless of age, gender, disability, state of health, ethnic origin or any other characteristic.

Summer school on Disability and Development in Jakarta 12 July - 6 August 2010 The Athena Institute, Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences, VU University (Amsterdam), Enablement (Alphen aan den Rijn) and the Disability Studies Centre, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia, are pleased to announce a Summer School on Disability and Development at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta. This programme is part of an academic Master degree and is open to external participants as well.

IDDC event on HIV and Disability at Commission's Info Point IDDC's HIV&AIDS and Disability Task Group organised an info session on 4 December 2009 entitled Universal Access for nearly all? How to make AIDS responses more inclusive to people with disabilities. About 30 people attended this event at the Commission's Info Point, which marked World AIDS Day on 1 December and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December.

ADD honoured by President for work in Burkina Faso IDDC's member Action on Disability and Development (ADD) in Burkina Faso has been honoured with the Chevalier of Merit award by the country’s President, Blaise Compaore. This is a great recognition and acknowledgement of ADD's contribution to the development of the nation and of their support to people with disabilities, who are the most disadvantaged people in Burkina Faso.
