| ADD International in brief |
|
ADD International (formerly known as Action on Disability and Development) was formed in 1985 to promote the rights of disabled people in Africa and Asia. ADD International believes that all disabled people have a right to be included in society. Its vision is a world where people with disabilities are able to enjoy their rights, fulfil their responsibilities and obligations and participate as fully as they choose at every level of society.
ADD International works in eleven countries in Africa and Asia where disabled people are routinely denied the most basic human rights such as raising a family, earning a living, an education, basic healthcare and respect from members of the community. Without these rights disabled people are denied the opportunity to contribute to the society in which they live. ADD International supports disabled people and their orangisations to change Laws and attitudes in order to end disability discrimination. These changes provide disabled people in Africa and Asia the opportunity to lift themselves out of the extreme poverty in which they live.
