Together with Member of the European Parliament Gay Mitchell, CBM's EU Liaison Office are holding a photo exhibition at the European Parliament from 2 - 5 December this year. The exhibition opens on the eve of World Disability Day and marks the entry into force of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The photo exhibition features images of persons with disabilities from developing countries who have been given access to healthcare, education, employment, humanitarian aid and community inclusion. These people are a tiny minority. Of the estimated 650 million people worldwide, 80 percent live in the developing world and only 4 per cent have access to development cooperation. Speakers at the opening event will discuss what the European Union can do about this. The following speakers will be present at the reception to address this question:

•    Gay Mitchell MEP

•    John Bowis MEP

•    Carlotta Besozzi, Director of the European Disability Forum

•    Tanja Kern, Regional Director CBM
