Making Development Inclusive
Article 32 of the Convention states inter alia, that international cooperation, including international development programmes, should be inclusive of, and accessible to, persons with disabilities. With its signature by the European Union and its ratification by EU Member States, there is a greatly increased need for specialist information about the implementation and monitoring of Article 32. Through this project, IDDC will be strengthened as a hub for the provision of expertise on mainstreaming disability in development to national and international state and non-state actors. The project will enable IDDC to increase its promotion of consistent understanding and implementation of the UNCRPD with a range of target groups across member states. The project runs from January 2010 until December 2012.
Project Partners The Lead Applicant for the project is IDDC Member Leonard Cheshire Disability, and in addition to IDDC, many IDDC members are also project parnters:
Project Activities A large proportion of the project will be undertaken by the IDDC Task Groups, in conjunction with the IDDC Board and the IDDC Secretariat. Many of the activities outlined in the project are delegated to specific Task Groups and project partners, or will involve collaboration between some or all Task Groups. The IDDC Secretariat has a coordinating and facilitating role.
