FIDIDA in brief

FIDIDA logo - © FIDIDA

FIDIDA is an association of six Finnish disabled people’s organisations. In FIDIDA the people with disabilities from the North and South work together to promote the human rights of the disabled. Equal rights and participation of disabled people is a starting point for all activities. FIDIDA is a service, coordination, and collaboration organ for its member associations in issues concerning disability and development co-operation. FIDIDA gathers and distributes information, provides training on issues concerning disability and development, and lobbies for the mainstreaming of disability issues in national and international development co-operation.

FIDIDA became a partnership organisation of Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in 2010. FIDIDA's new 'Finnish Disability Partnership Programme' gathers the development co-operation of FIDIDA's member associations as well as global education and advocacy work conducted by FIDIDA. The Programme promotes the fulfillment of the human rights and increases the participation and improvement of living conditions of the disabled, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Righs of Persons with Disabilities.
