Film on HIV&AIDS and Disability Launched by VSO Netherlands

About 150 people attended the event among whom the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, press, international development organizations and business partners.

IDDC Members CBM and Handicap International publish article in the Forced Migration Review

Forced Migration Review Cover © Forced Migration ReviewThe current issue of the Forced Migration Review has the theme of Disability & Displacement. As well as providing funding for the issue, IDDC Member organisations CBM also published a paper on one of their projects in Sri Lanka. Other IDDC Member Organisations Handicap International and Sightsavers also contributed funding and content for the issue.

Disability and the MDGs: Making Development Inclusive Project Launch

IDDC Panellists © IDDC 22 June 2010: In collaboration with Alf Svensson MEP (EPP), IDDC launched the EC-funded project 'Making Development Inclusive'. Speakers on the panel during the discussion on disability and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) included Madhizhagan Mohan (Inclusive Development Officer, CBM South Asia), Carlotta Besozzi (Director, European Disability Forum) and Anton Jensen (Disability Focal Person, DG Development).

Conference on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: a European Perspective

On the 8-9 November 2010 in Maastricht, The Netherlands, Maastricht University will be hosting a conference on the UN CRPD.

According to the Maastricht University website, "the purpose of this conference, to be hosted by the Maastricht Centre for Human Rights and the European Disability Forum (EDF), is to examine some of the consequences of, and obligations imposed by, the UN CRPD from a European perspective".

Women with Disabilities:  Towards equality for women and girls with disabilities

IDDC co-sponsors an ECOSOC Side Event on the Millennium Development Goals at the New York UN Head Quarters, 1 July 2010 on the topic of women with disabilities. IDDC will be represented in this interactive panel discussion by Helen Asamo, Deputy Executive Director of the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda.
