Making progress towards inclusive social protection schemes

On 6 June 2012, IDDC attended the roundtable titled 'Social Protection in Development Cooperation: Towards Inclusive Growth' hosted by the European Parliament. This summit brought together different actors in the field of development as they discussed the current direction of social protection strategies. The roundtable involved development leaders, civil society representatives, and participants active in the field of development.

European consultation starts shaping the post-2015 framework

On 24 - 25 May 2012 in Brussels (Belgium) IDDC members participated in a European seminar on the post-2015 framework. The event The World We Want Beyond-2015 was one of the first meetings of the Beyond-2015 Campaign at which the discussions on the processes for developing the framework and the different options for what the framework might look like were beginning to take place.

Fund of £1 million for innovative solutions to development problems

IDDC member Sightsavers launched an Innovation Fund with £1 million offered for innovative solutions to development problems. This fund is calling for innovative approaches which illustrate a way to overcome barriers in the promotion of eye health, inclusive education and social inclusion. Winning initiatives will receive up to £75,000 each to implement the suggested proposal over 18 months. The learning from these projects will be shared widely within the development sector as well as being used to inform Sightsavers’ own programmes.

Two new publications in Community Based Rehabilitation research

IDDC member AIFO has published two new research studies in Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). The first volume of 'Mandya CBR Research' and the manual 'Promoting empowerment – Emancipatory research in CBR'. Both documents will be disseminated at the First World Congress on CBR, taking place in India in November 2012.

Join conference discussing the findings of the Zero Project Report 2012

On 21 June 2012, the Zero Project - Envisioning a World without Barriers - will be discussing the findings of its 2012 Report in anticipation of the forthcoming European Accessibility Act. The event will take place at the European Parliament from 12:30 - 15:00 welcoming among others European parliamentarians, policy experts and disabled people's organisations. This conference is being organized by Dr. Ádám Kósa MEP - President of the Disability Intergroup of the European Parliament, the Essl Foundation and the World Future Council, in collaboration with the European Disability Forum.
