Some years ago, countries came together and decided to try to make the world better.<\/p>\n

They set some goals to make this happen.<\/p>\n

We call these goals \u2018Sustainable Development Goals\u2019. In short, SDGs.<\/p>\n

There are 17 SDGs in total.<\/p>\n

Together, the SDGs form Agenda 2030.<\/p>\n

There is a clear reference to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in 5 SDGs. This is very positive.<\/p>\n

These 5 SDGs are about:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Education<\/li>\n
  2. Livelihood<\/li>\n
  3. Fighting inequality<\/li>\n
  4. Accessibility of cities for instance buildings, transport, and public spaces.<\/li>\n
  5. Collection of information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    [\/apus_text_img][apus_text_img]Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    The United Nations made a document which talks about the rights of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

    This document also talks about what countries should do
    \nin order to protect the rights of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

    The document is called \u2018UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities\u2019.<\/p>\n

    In short, we call it \u2018UNCRPD\u2019.<\/p>\n

    Many countries signed the CRPD
    \nand agreed to make the lives of people with disabilities better.<\/p>\n

    [\/apus_text_img][apus_text_img]European Union<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    The European Union is a group of 27 countries in Europe.<\/p>\n

    They agreed to work together and help each other.<\/p>\n

    The European Union funds many projects outside of Europe
    \nthat are important for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

    The European Union also makes laws
    \nthat are important for inclusive development and humanitarian action.<\/p>\n

    Human Rights are the rights that every person should have.<\/p>\n

    For example, the right to live.<\/p>\n

    Or the right to speak your mind.<\/p>\n

    [\/apus_text_img][apus_text_img]Inclusive humanitarian action<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    Humanitarian action means helping people who need help right away
    \nbecause something happened in their community.<\/p>\n

    For example, they might need help because there is an emergency like a war or a flood.<\/p>\n

    Humanitarian action is inclusive when
    \npeople with disabilities are also getting help when they need it.<\/p>\n

    [\/apus_text_img][apus_text_img]Inclusive development cooperation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    Development cooperation is when people from different countries work together to help make things better in communities that need it.<\/p>\n

    Usually, it means people from countries that have more money give that money to countries that need it.<\/p>\n

    The money is used to help solve different problems, like making sure that people have clean water or that all kids can go to school.<\/p>\n

    When we say that development cooperation is inclusive<\/strong>, that means people with disabilities fully take part.<\/p>\n

    [\/apus_text_img][apus_text_img]Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    OPDs are organisations or groups that are led by persons with disabilities or families of persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n

    They represent persons with disabilities and they work for disability rights.<\/p>\n

    Most of their members should be persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n

    \n

    The United Nations is an international organisation.<\/p>\n

    It works for peace and security everywhere in the world.<\/p>\n

    We call it the UN for short.<\/p>\n

    193 countries are part of the UN.<\/p>\n

    They meet to discuss important issues for the world.<\/p>\n
