WHA Side Event on ‘Political Leadership to Achieve Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities’
The Governments of Australia, Bangladesh and Uruguay, together with WHO, International Disability Alliance, International Disability and Development Consortium, Humanity & Inclusion, and Sightsavers are holding an in-person Side Event on ‘Political Leadership to Achieve Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities’ in Geneva on Monday 27th May during the World Health Assembly.
Member States, WHO and civil society actors will discuss concrete actions to make health systems more inclusive of persons with disabilities and advance health equity. High-level governmental representatives spearheading work on inclusive health will share their experiences in implementing solutions to accelerate this process. WHO will present technical guidance to facilitate strategic health sector planning for governments, while persons with disabilities and civil society will highlight the importance of inclusive approaches in health system strengthening, including at community level.
