IDDC has played a critical role in supporting the inclusion of disability in the current MDGs and is now engaged in promoting its implementation. The MDGs have the potential to make life better for billions of people in the world’s poorest countries. Without including disability in plans for tackling poverty the MDGs stand little chance of success.
How is IDDC involved?
The MDGs are a key strategy for the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as contributing to the UN Millennium Project. IDDC along with its members and partners work to accelerate the process of making the MDGs a reality for persons with disabilities, and is supporting the call for a fully disability-inclusive post-2015 global development framework based on human rights and equity. IDDC’s task groups reinforce the importance of the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the MDGs as well as the Post-2015 global development framework through their work.
