Issues of disability, poverty and environmental sustainability are inextricably linked. There are an estimated one billion people with disabilities worldwide. People with disabilities are particularly at risk to the effects of climate change, such as natural disasters and food insecurity. In order to be effective, any discussions or framework in relation to sustainable development must incorporate disability-inclusive development principles.
