In 2015, the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC), in close collaboration with the European Disability Forum (EDF), followed the work of the monitoring body of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the CRPD Committee, regarding the review of the implementation of the CRPD by the European Union (EU).

During that review process, the EU Task Group succesfully advocated for the inclusion of paragraphs on International Cooperation (Art.32) and Situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies (Art.11) in the Concluding Observations of the Committee.

After responding to the List of Issues, and advocating directly towards the experts of the Committee, the EU Task Group ensured that the Concluding Observations would allow us to effectively influence further CRPD implementation in the EU’s external policies and actions, as outlined in the EU Task Group’s position paper on the Concluding Observations.
