Kupenda for the Children – 3 New Open-Source Disability Advocacy and Stigma Reduction Training Guides

This year Kupenda and Kuhenza developed and published 3 new free, user-friendly training guides that support disability advocacy and stigma reduction

These resources grow out of Kupenda and Kuhenza’s 27 years of disability stigma-reduction work. In many communities, harmful beliefs that disabilities are caused by curses or witchcraft continue to drive exclusion, neglect, and abuse. Kupenda works to change these beliefs and practices by equipping influential traditional, religious, and government leaders, as well as people impacted by disability, to become advocates for inclusion, care, and protection.

The new guides include:

  • Inclusive Livelihoods Guidelinesfor organizations designing or strengthening disability-inclusive livelihoods programs for youth with disabilities and their caregivers

These resources are also available in Kupenda’s full library of open-source disability advocacy training materials.

Please feel free to use or share these resources with partners who may find them helpful. Kupenda and Kuhenza are also available to provide technical or training support to help organizations use these guides or strengthen inclusion in their programs.
