Recommendations for the EU 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework

The Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF) determines the budget spending of the EU for a period of at least five years. The current MFF which ran from 2014 to 2020, is coming to an end. The EU institutions and Member States are elaborating the new MFF for the period of seven years, from 2021 to 2027.

IDDC recommendations for the new MFF

Global development and humanitarian action will never be sustainable nor inclusive if persons with disabilities are left behind. The International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) believes that the European Union (EU) has the power to make a fundamental difference by adequately addressing disability in its next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

The EU Task Group has drafted a position paper on the European Union’s new MFF with recommendations concerning development and humanitarian policy and programming.

On 5 October 2018, IDDC and EDF join hands to call for an inclusive EU budget, that allows to turn EU’s commitments on the inclusion of persons with disabilities into reality, through allocating sufficient and adequate funding for specific action and mainstreaming disability, in the EU and in its external cooperation action.

The position paper is also endorsed by African Disability Forum, Arab Organisation of Persons with Disabilities, ASEAN Disability Forum, RIADIS and Terre des Hommes International Federation.
