The Atlas Alliance works for the fulfillment of the human rights of persons with disabilities in poor countries and for the improvement of their living conditions.

The Atlas Alliance is an umbrella organisation consisting of Norwegian organisations of people with disabilities, parents and patients that are involved in international work. Since 1981 the Atlas Alliance has supported projects for people with disabilities in countries in the South.

The Atlas Alliance has more than 30 years of experience with development work within education, health and rehabilitation, organizational development, livelihood and social inclusion and community based inclusive development (CBID). The most important barriers to inclusion of people with disabilities are stigma and attitudes in the societies. By supporting local disabled people’s organizations in partner countries we contribute to the empowerment of disabled people and they can fight for their own rights.
