Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Some years ago, countries came together and decided to try to make the world better.

They set some goals to make this happen.

We call these goals ‘Sustainable Development Goals’. In short, SDGs.

There are 17 SDGs in total.

Together, the SDGs form Agenda 2030.

There is a clear reference to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in 5 SDGs. This is very positive.

These 5 SDGs are about:

  1. Education
  2. Livelihood
  3. Fighting inequality
  4. Accessibility of cities for instance buildings, transport, and public spaces.
  5. Collection of information.

Many countries signed the CRPD

Humanitarian action means helping people who need help right away
because something happened in their community.

For example, they might need help because there is an emergency like a war or a flood.

Humanitarian action is inclusive when

Inclusive development cooperation.

Development cooperation is when people from different countries work together to help make things better in communities that need it.

Usually, it means people from countries that have more money give that money to countries that need it.

The money is used to help solve different problems, like making sure that people have clean water or that all kids can go to school.

When we say that development cooperation is inclusive, that means people with disabilities fully take part.
